Q: I operate in multiple locations, and want to be free to go anywhere. What's the problem with requesting "Nationwide" operations?
A: The FCC is not pleased with potential interference with existing frequencies in use with FB8 status.
Therefore, when a GPS-RTK application reaches the FCC containing a frequency with an FB8 station class in the same state, the FCC will dismiss the application.
Therefore, it is more important than ever to apply for what is actually needed. Many GPS-RTK operators requested "Nationwide" as a matter of convenience... why not!? This won't work any longer. We are watching the progress of this issue at the FCC and at Frequency Coordination. One concern is that there may be enough additional time involved in coordinating GPS-RTK applications, the coordinators may feel it's time for an increase in their fees.
More information on this is coming soon! (10/1/2020)
Q: Can I do my FCC license application myself?
A: Yes. Atlas License Company is an option! We exist to provide assistance for those who would rather not "do it themselves".
If you choose to do the application yourself, and you need assistance you'll have to contact the FCC either through their web site (www.fcc.gov) or by phone at 888-CALL-FCC. We must devote our time to assisting customers who've submitted completed and paid applications. Atlas has many years of experience in preparing FCC license applications and can virtually eliminate the chances of a returned or dismissed application.
Q: Do I need a license for each unit?
A: No. The total number of units will be listed on your license application, and will therefore appear on your license.

Interference...
Harmful interference may occur on any frequency at any time for a number of reasons. If interference is received or caused, switch to another frequency. Data transmissions are ALWAYS secondary to voice transmissions. As a data system, if interference is caused, you will be the one who has to “move” to another frequency.
Power...
To avoid problems with others users and FCC rule violations use only the power required for the job and never exceed your maximum licensed power.
Renewal...
Your FCC license expires ten years from the issue date on the actual license you receive directly from the FCC. The FCC does send renewal notices to all licensees; however, the FCC holds the licensee accountable to keep the license current. For your protection, we suggest you mark your calendar in case no notice is received. Also, Atlas offers License Guard® for license expiration notices... Guaranteed!
About Canada...
If you are near and/or possibly operating within approximately 90 miles of the Canadian border, your license can be affected by Canadian rules and regulations making the process more complicated and time consuming.
If you are able to operate with 5 watts or less, Canadian clearance is not required and the licensing process is not encumbered by Canadian clearance delays.
If you require over 5 watts of power, Canadian clearance is required and additional fees apply. This means after coordination is complete, the application is forwarded to Canada for approval. This generally causes an 8-12 month delay in receiving your license and could also mean Canada might reject some or all of the requested frequencies. When Canada has made a determination, they will return the application to the FCC. If approved by Canada, your official license is granted by the FCC and mailed directly to you. Until you receive your official license from the FCC, you are only allowed 5 watts of power or less when operating within approximately 90 miles of the Canadian border.
