Atlas
completes license application forms for Radio Services in Part 90 of the FCC
Rules & Regulations.
Atlas does not have detailed knowledge of specific equipment and will not
advise regarding equipment capabilities.
Please refer to your selected dealer or manufacturer for information and
assistance with your equipment.
Atlas
forms are not Federal forms. Our forms are for our internal use and are
not accepted by the FCC.
Those who have submitted Atlas forms to the FCC may never receive a response of
any kind.
Q:
Can I do my FCC license application myself?
A: Yes. Atlas License Company is an
option! We exist to provide assistance for those who would rather not
"do it themselves". If you choose to do the application
yourself, and you need assistance you'll have to contact the FCC either through
their web site (www.fcc.gov) or
by phone at 888-CALL-FCC. We must devote our time to assisting customers
who've submitted completed and paid applications. Atlas has many years of
experience in preparing FCC license applications and can virtually eliminate the
chances of a returned or dismissed application.
Q:
My license expires after the deadline. Will I be allowed to renew my
license?
A: Yes. The deadline applies to NEW
license applications for wide band operations ONLY! The FCC will continue
to allow existing licenses with wide band operations to renew after the
deadline. However, the FCC has not clarified how licenses for wide band operations
with expiration dates beyond 2013 will be reconciled.
Q:
Do I need a license for each unit?
A: No. The total number of units will be
listed on your license application, and will therefore appear on your license.
Q:
Can my GPS-RTK and Robotic Station/Geodimeter license be combined?
A: We strongly recommend keeping these items
separate. Combining them can confuse FCC processors greatly increasing
chances of returned and/or dismissed applications, which are too risky when
deadlines are involved. Even if combined, cost savings are negligible.

NO!
GPS-RTK frequencies have NOT been changed!
The FCC will mandate
the use of narrow band emissions rather than wide band emissions.
So, it's the bandwidth that's "changing" NOT the frequencies
themselves! Wide band is 25 kilohertz, narrow band is 12.5 kilohertz
or less. If you've been told, "you can't use 25 megahertz
anymore", it's not being stated correctly.
Interference...
Harmful
interference may occur on any frequency at any time for a number of reasons.
If interference is received or caused, switch to another frequency. Data
transmissions are ALWAYS secondary to voice transmissions. As a data
system, if interference is caused, you will be the one who has to move to
another frequency.
Power...
To
avoid problems with others users and FCC rule violations use only the power
required for the job and never exceed your maximum licensed power.
Renewal...
Your
FCC license expires ten years from the issue date on the actual license you
receive directly from the FCC. The FCC does send renewal notices to all
licensees; however, the
FCC holds the licensee
accountable to keep the license current. For your protection, we suggest you
mark your calendar in case no notice is received. Also, Atlas offers License
Guard™
for license expiration notices delivered by Certified Mail... Guaranteed!

About
Canada...
If
you are near and/or possibly operating within approximately 90 miles of the
Canadian border, your license can be affected by Canadian rules and regulations
making the process more complicated and time consuming.
If
you are able to operate with 5 watts or less, Canadian clearance is not required
and the licensing process is not encumbered by Canadian clearance delays.
(If this applies to you, proceed to GPS: Business Entity or GPS:
Governmental.)
If
you require over 5 watts of power, Canadian clearance is required and additional
fees apply.
This means after coordination is complete, the application is forwarded to
Canada for approval. This generally causes an 8-12 month delay in
receiving your license and could also mean Canada might reject some or all of
the requested frequencies. When Canada has made a determination, they will
return the application to the FCC. If approved by Canada, your official
license is granted by the FCC and mailed directly to you. Until
you receive your official license from the FCC, you are only allowed 5 watts of
power or less when operating within approximately 90 miles of the Canadian
border.
