Schedule K: Construction Notice Deadline
The FCC requires the filing of a construction notice (stating your radio
system is in use as stated on your license) within one year of the license
Effective Date (sometimes different than the grant date, i.e. Modified
licenses) or they may cancel the license!
Atlas Can Help!
This is not a new rule, it's a new step of enforcement.
As part of the Universal Licensing System (ULS), the FCC is now requiring all
applicants with new or modified radio systems to file Form 601 Schedule K
notifying the Commission the authorized radio equipment has been placed in
operation and is on the air.
In mid April, 2002, the FCC began sending "Construction/Coverage Deadline
Reminder Notices" to all licensees who have obtained new or modified
licenses in the past year. This notice must be filed on or before the
Construction Deadline date which is shown on your FCC Station Authorization (license)
in the far right side column... and be sure to check all pages. Failure
to file this form with the commission can result in the automatic cancellation
of your license when it becomes one year old!
This notice should not be confused with Construction Audit Letters, which are
also being sent to licensees.
The Schedule K - Construction Notice Deadline form may be handled in various
ways:
1. You can file electronically at the "ULS" web site using your Federal
Registration Number (FRN) and Password.
2. On paper, using FCC Form 601 with Schedule K.
3. The hassle-free way... ASK ATLAS! Download

Extensions may be possible in extenuating circumstances. The FCC's
acceptable reasons for an extension are extremely limited. We do not
recommend relying on extensions as an option. If you have questions about
extensions, please call us or email your question with as much detail as possible and we'll
reply as soon as possible.
